You Tube Tuesday #242

This is awesome! I totally remember freaking out when I saw this scene for the first time as a kid.

It's just cool to see a reaction like this caught on camera.

Enjoy!

Leave Diabetes Out

This disease demands a lot of our attention and all of our time! If you have diabetes, care for someone who does, or have anything to do with this disease than you know that we never seem to get a real break.

So this is one way we can.

Kind of.

No D-Day is a day when our online interactions avoid diabetes completely. Twitter, Blogs, Facebook, MySpace (lol), and anything else you can think of. Not a peep about that dumb disease. For one day.

The goal is to talk about different parts of our lives. Our hobbies, loves, talents, whatever! Every person I have ever met from the DOC is awesome because of who they are, not because of the disease that brought us together. We are more than a disease!

So lets take one day and share about other stuff in our lives. Let's learn more about one another all the while giving diabetes the silent treatment, not each other!

On Friday, October 7th use the #nodday hashtag and if you blog please go to ninjabetic.com/nodday2011 and add your link to the list so we can all learn more about each other.

Here is link to my No D-Day post from 2010 and a link to last years blogroll if you want some ideas.

So what do you think? Are you in? If so, grab that banner and add it to the top of your post Friday!

Have a Drink

As of today I have had diabetes for 21 years.
I am lying in bed in a dorm of about 40 snoring men. This retreat weekend has been amazing and an eye opener in a lot of ways.
We get up very early tomorrow but I wanted to stay up until midnight to write this. I may regret it tomorrow but as of this moment I am happy I pushed through the case of the drowsies I had earlier.
As I lay hear and listen to the rumble of different snores I am reflecting back to a year ago. When I experienced one of the most amazing weekends I had ever had. I still cannot believe what a great time it was.
So many people.
So much support.
So many new friends.
So many GREAT memories.
So this year I am spending my diaversary serving. It seems the right response to an awesome weekend full of blessings last year to try and do something for someone else this year.
I know I will have a lot to write about. I have a lot of things I need to express and get down here on my blog.
So as soon as I publish this post I am going to set my iPhone down next to my bed, thank God for the changes he is making to my heart, pray all of the DOC has a restful night, and that he continues to bless us all with many more years.
