Progress?

Tomorrow I have an appointment with my endocrinologist. I am kind of nervous about it. There are just some things I am concerned about.

First, he added a C-Peptide test to my blood draw to see if I really am a type 1. When he finally sees that I am not a liar and just a fat ass I may start shouting "SERVED! SERVED! SERVED!" But that is probably not going to go over well so I'll let you know what happens.

For those wondering, when I asked my endo about using Symlin he said that he has found that many of his type 2's use it and find it helps with weight loss. I told him, I know that but I am a type 1 which was when he started drilling me to see if I really WAS a type 1. Asking if I had ever been DKA or if I was fat when I was diagnosed. It was so annoying since the last time I was there I had the same questions hurled at me from the nurse.

Anyhow, that will be cleared up tomorrow.

The thing I am more concerned about is my a1c. This is the first a1c I have had since I started using CGMS and Symlin and I am curious to see if my number has come down. I am not seeing the crazy highs I had before but I still get them and I seem to constantly be out of range. It is frustrating.

I also need a referral to the Podiatrist and the Ophthalmologist. It's been a while since I have seen both of them so I need to get all that stuff going again.

So with all of that I guess you can say I am pretty excited about the appointment because even if I have not achieved the results I was looking for, I will know where I am and can continue to strive towards my goal.

Knowledge is power right?

Sounds almost exactly like a recent visit of mine...except I didn't get symlin and I don't have a CGMS (hopefully soon). When my endo got the test results back, confirming I was T1 she was confused as to why she even tested...silly, silly endo. Have fun being right :) ...and I hope you're at least a little bit closer to your goal.

I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow. It sounds like it will be very interesting to say the least. I love when I get a chance to be right! I've only had that happen twice in the last 9 years. (And they say women are always right!) Enjoy your moment. They are so rare!!

I went through the same thing with my endo and 'making sure im really a type 1' She had to make sure before i started on the pump. It didn't make much sense...i am heavy NOW but at 14 i wasn't plus if she saw my history she would see that all signs point to YES.

Oh well. sometimes docs need to figure out things for themselves, it sucks because as diabetics we know more about us then they do, im sure that is annoying sometimes!!

Oh and all my tests came out to type 1. lol

George-

No offense but your Endo is stupid! Sorry you had to prove to your Endo that you have a Bum Pancreas.

I know you tweeted some of the results, but I hope you've got a post about this stuff next week? I'm anxious to hear.
