All Clear
A few weeks ago I told you all that I was having some swelling in my legs. And last week I told you about the second worst procedure ever.
What I didn’t tell you was that on that day of the procedure I had another two appointments. The first was the nerve conduction study that was a lot worse than I remembered.
The second appointment was to be fitted for compression socks. Not very exciting.
The last appointment was for an ultrasound on my legs. That swelling concerned my endo so he decided to have me sent to the Hospital cardiac center to have my legs looked at.
Yesterday I got the results and I am all clear! I wish I could afford one of those full body scans. I am always so worried about what is going on inside of me. It seems like we should get one of those every time we go to the doc’s just to see what is up. I know it would never happen but a ninja can dream right?
Plus losing my feet is a huge fear of mine. As many of you know that was the main motivation for me to finally quit smoking and it still makes me never want to have another cigarette again.
So what now?
I have been giving a new water pill to help with the swelling. I am hoping this will take care of it. Until then, I will keep wearing my sexy swell stockings in hopes they can contain the retaining of water going on in my body.

So glad you're okay! They seriously should give the full-body scans to all d's after 30 years or so...After 38 years, I'm sure things're semi-plugged up all over my body...It's terrifying.
But for now, all that matters is that your legs are clear. Hopefully it's a sign everything else is too...
Glad your all clear! Wear your stockings, see how the water pill works, and this might sound silly, but drinking more water and cutting back on salt might help - ask your doc!
my podiatrist suggested I get some for airline flights. I told her only if mandals were still in the picture lol

I've been taking Lasix, or the generic version of it, whatever that's called, for ankle swelling for maybe 4 or 5 years now. My endo said it was related to my kidneys, and something about sodium and protein related to that. Occasionally, I still get some slight swelling, but nothing like I was having before, so I've been happy with it. I hope your medication does the trick for you too... and I have no doubt that you totally rock the compression stockings ;)
I've been taking furosemide (Lasix) for 5+ years now due to swelling. I've had the ultrasounds and dopplers and about anything else you can think of done on my legs because of the swelling (which is due to my kidneys and anemia) and the surgery I've had done on my foot. Everything is always fine, but it seems every time I am in the hospital, they run the tests again to make sure. It's just become my new normal, unfortunately.
The compression stockings really work as well and for me, I've found that the more water I drink, the less lower leg/ankle swelling I get. It's just a horrible side effect with the water pill that I end up using the restroom more frequently at work! Hopefully it'll all help you with the swelling and you'll be good to go!
You ROCK those socks George. Glad you have been given the AOK.
Agree with the compression socks / more water / less sodium comments. After any initial swelling comes down, keep an eye on how your legs are behaving: when my doctor had me on diuretics immediately post-diagnosis, I was on them longer than needed to control the swelling in my ankles and they backfired on me; now I need the compression hose to control persistent swelling in my lower calves.
Ugh, I'm sorry the tests were so awful - but I'm so glad they ended with good results. You rock those socks, Ninja, because taking care of you health is super sexy!!!
Hey, those socks are a sexy look...some chick was sporting them on Survivor last night while wearing a bikini none-the-less! I don't think they were "compression stockings" but they went up to the knee. Glad to hear your legs are in the clear.
I hated hearing about how bad the nerve conduction thing was. I hate thinking about you hurting so much.
But, on a brighter note, just think about how well those socks will keep you pump in place (will that work, or would it make a permanent pump mark in your leg? LOL!).
