AWESOMESAUCE!!! - Day 5

Awesome things - Friday 5/13: In February the #dsma blog carnival challenged us to write about the most awesome thing we’d done DESPITE diabetes. Today let’s put a twist on that topic and focus on the good things diabetes has brought us. What awesome thing have you (or your child) done BECAUSE of diabetes? After all, like my blog header says, life with diabetes isn’t all bad!
I can think of several things that I have been directly related to my diabetes life that have been AWESOMESAUCE!
First and formost are the friendships I have made because of diabetes. I have found my soul brother, my sisters from different misters, and brothers from other mothers! People I will never stop loving or lose touch with. People that care about me and that I care about wholeheartedly*.
The other thing that was THE SAUCE was "Ninjabetic Weekend." For those that do not know, my 20th anniversary of diagnosis was last October 2nd which was also the same day as a local JDRF walk. Several awesome friends of mine flew out west to be apart of the walk and the party after the walk. We raised a bunch of money with the help of all the OC, had the biggest group turnout of the day (We beat coca cola as far as walkers there that day), enjoyed food, fun, music, and a speech from yours truly about...well here is a clip of the speech.
I wrote a song.
um, I rapped.
I hip hopped.
Oh man, I forgot! I was on TV!!!!
Anyhow that is just some of the AWESOME things I would never have done if I did not have diabetes.

Oh my Bananas! (as Hailey says) I loveeeeed watching that video again! Though it made me kind of miss that house... Tedders looks so little! My favorite part is the four of you walking across the grass looking like a scene out of Lord of the Rings.. hahaha. <3<3<3

You, my friend, are the poster child for doing awesome things BECAUSE of diabetes!!!! Pete and I are always so happy when we are driving along in the car and iTunes shuffles on over to Not By Choice. It's the next best thing to having you in the car with us. LYLB
