A Reoccurring Subject

I love to write and talk about my family. Especially my kids. Being a Dad is the best job in the world, in my opinion. I guess I should say being a parent is the best job ever. My wife and I always talk about how great it is to be raising children. They define me.

I got an email a while back from a writer for Diabetes Forecast, the ADA publication, and was asked if I would be willing to do a phone interview about talking to my kids about my diabetes. Of course I jumped at the chance.

The interview was great! I am a talker so getting me to shut up is more of a problem then getting me to say anything. That is never a problem. We talked a lot about how to tell your kids about diabetes and when to tell them. It went well I think.

I was told the interview would come out in the May issue of the magazine and we said our goodbyes.

About a month ago I get an email from a photographer saying he works with the Diabetes Forecast and he wanted to schedule a time to come over and take some pictures for the article.

huh? whu? pictures?

Now I didn't know that there would be a photographer being sent over. For some reason the thought never crossed my mind. I asked the kids if they would be cool with it and they were so we set up some time.

He said he wanted to get pictures of us doing stuff together. I told him that we were in the process of moving so our home was a mess! When he got to the house he decided to try taking some pictures of us packing boxes. After packing and unpacking a few boxes a dozen or so times he decided to try something else.

The sun was shining and Teddy our dog wanted to see what was going on so the photographer decided to have us shoot some hoops in the backyard. Teddy was in a lot of the pictures but the one they went with was a little 2 on 1 with Dad losing of course.

I would love for you to head on over the Diabetes Forecast magazine website and check out the article.

While I was writing this post I saw this tweet come through from Scott

And he linked this picture.

So cool!

I am so blessed to be a dad.

It's the best.

It was an awesome article George! I read it online when it came out, but we saw the magazine at the doctor's office this morning. I told the kids "hey! George is in this magazine!", and boom! There you and the kids were! It was so cool!
