Naked Ninja
Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 10:40AM
For the first time in the history of having a CGM I left my Dexcom receiver at home.
It's awful how naked I feel without it. I look at that trend all day long and now I feel like I am lost.
Tools are all we have and my Dexcom is probably one of the best tools I have ever used to help with my diabetes control. No time is that more apparent than now when I do not have it.
You don't know what you've got til it's gone. Joanie Mitchell doesn't lie.
Thankfully, it is not gone but rather sitting on my nightstand wondering where the sensor is.
Until then I will just have to test more often. Bummer.

I have to admit I really hesitated to click on this one from work. The cute cartroon image is probably OK I guess :)
But I know the feeling: like Batman without his utility belt, or Indy without his whip...."Why is there no potato on my belt?" I imagine after dex'ing it 24/7/365 since FDA approval, when I finally get the Vibe I'll have several months of Phantom Potato Syndrome....
Isn't it crazy how often we look at that thing?! And like you say, we don't really realize it until it's not there.
After I stopped using the Loaner CGM, it took me a couple weeks to get out of the habit of grabbing my pump to look at the trends... And I really did miss it. I've gotten out of the habit of missing it as much, but still do... So right: We don't really appreciate what we have til it's gone.
I'm a little scared of what you googled to get that image. :D
