Bedwetter

Last night I hit the hay early. It was probably 9:45 when I knew I could take it no more and I needed to crash out. My bg was slowly coming down after a mini spike after a low carb dinner so all was well in the diabetes department.
My bedrooom felt stuffy so I opened a window near my side of the bed and turned the ceiling fan on. I need the fan no matter what just for the white noise.
You should also know that I always have blankets on. It can be 100 degrees outside and I will crank the AC and pile on the quilts.
Last night, with the window opened and the fan on, was chilly in our room. I only had the two blankets I usually have on so I was worried I would be too cold. My need for sleep won over my ability to walk back out into the hall to get another blanket so I just went to bed.
I woke up around 12:45AM feeling strange. I turned over and felt cold, no freezing sheets. I realized I was sweating like a crazy low type sweat. Like yoga sweat. Racquetball sweat! Eww. I got up figuring my blood glucose was low but it wasn't. 138 to be exact.
My face, chest, back, stomach, my whole body was dripping with sweat. Normally I am not one to sweat so perfusely so this concerns me.
So what was the deal? The room was cold and I was cold! My wife who is always warm was bundled up and out like a light. It was really strange and gross.
I put a towel down, grabbed some new blankets and went back to bed. This is definitely something I am going to mention to my doctor at my next appointment.
Has this ever happened to you? Do you know why?

It happens to my husband and I at times, but not to the level you described. We both turn into human furnaces when we sleep, so it's not out of the question for something to wake one of us in the middle of the night and feel drenched with sweat. But not hot yoga or racquetball levels, more like baking bread on the hottest day of the year level if that makes any sense.
mmm bread! No I get what you are saying Wendy. I normally do not get hot like that and this was like a pool. Eww. It was so gross.
Sounds like what happened to me when I had the flu.
This happens to me and its usually due to hormonal stuff... Both woman-type-stuff (which I don't think you have to worry about), but also when my thyroid is out of whack. I'm talking pools of sweat. Hope you get it figured out!
What time did you wake up, G? How long after you slept? 138 is not that high - I wonder if you were low and then rebounded? For me, I sweat madly while low and then I'm FREEZING afterward, once the sugar starts to come up. Could your body have kicked in some glucose and saved you? What was your sugar later in the morning?
Before I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis that used to happen to me. Once they got my thyroid meds regulated it stopped.
G - Please have your thyroid, vitamin, and testosterone levels checked. All of these could be contributing factors. I have these checked every year. Take care! -Mark
I had this happen to me when I was in the early stages of Valley Fever. I would wake up and check my BS, but it would be normal, like you described. If a PWD lives in the southwest region of the US (AZ, CA, NV) they are more susceptible to this. I found out the hard way. I hope this isn't the case for you! Make sure you talk to the doc about it.
This happened to me twice, and I also have a thyroid condition. I'm not sure if that's the reason, though...
I called my mom and asked her if I was in early menopause at 36, and she thought maybe I was having nightmares. Anyway, I would say check the thyroid!
I agree with Nicole - my first guess would be that maybe you were low and rebounded (though I guess that is less likely since you said you had a low carb dinner so not lotsa insulin on board?)
But I'd def mention it to your doctor just to make sure nothing else needs to get checked out...
