Toured
Monday, April 30, 2012 at 10:23AM
I did it. We did it. My son George, my best friends Matt and Clay, and I all finished the Tour de Cure yesterday.
We rode for 32 miles around Long Beach California and we really had no clue what were getting ourselves into.
The distance was not the issue, it was the bridges and hills that really did a number on me. Wow! But I made it. It may not have been pretty. I may have had to walk my bike up some of thos hills, but I did it.
Here are some pics of the day since I am still sort of speechless about the whole thing. It feels like it was a dream.

Yup, it's the climbs that make the difficulty. But I see your (first?) Red Rider jersey. Huzzah! (I will be going for my third this year. They're something of a point of honor amongst the Cycling Diabetics group on TuD.)
George,
I am so excited you did it!!! And I love that Tour, they really get the spirit of "GO RED RIDER!" I get tears in my eyes every time I see what the jersey does and means for people. I am so so so proud of you. NOW... when you pick your next ride, PLEASE 14 or 16 or 18 weeks before the ride, let me know... And TeamWILD is here to support you. Those hills/bridges will be easy peesy!!!!!
GO RED RIDER GEORGE!!!
