Spare a Rose, Save a Child
That's it! How easy is that?
Okay, I am getting ahead of myself. Let me explain how this works and then you can make it happen.
LIFE OF A CHILD is a program that helps children with diabetes in developing countries. Insulin, Glucometers, Test strips, and A1C tests all cost a lot of money and many parts of the world don't have the resources to provide these vital tools for PWD's.
We can help and some members of the DOC came up with this idea. Spare a Rose, Save a Child.
It goes like this.
Valentine's Day is coming up and you, being the awesome person you are, are probably going to send someone you love a dozen roses. Aww that is so sweet! What we are asking is that you send one less rose (That's 11) and take the monetary cost of that 1 rose and donate it to the Life of a Child program.
Told you it was easy! And it does lots of cool stuff.
First and foremost you are helping needy children in the diabetes community around the world.
This is also a great way to use social media and the power of this community for good. The Spare a Rose, Save a Child program was thought up by members of the DOC (which is why you will see nothing about it on the IDF website).
Someone you love gets some beautiful roses which will score you some points!
And the next time you check your blood, take your insulin, or see someone you love doing one of those things, you will know that you saved a child by sparing a rose.
