Baked

I was feeling pretty crummy yesterday and I thought that maybe it would help if I got baked!

Wait, that came out wrong. What I meant to say was...

I baked!

Back in October I made Banana nut bread for the very first time and it came out great. I decided to give Zucchini bread a try and I must admit, it came out fantastic!

Here's how it went down. I signed myself up to bring Banana bread and Zucchini bread to my sisters on Christmas morning so I figured a trial was in order. I made two loaves and they both are perfect. Moist, flavorful, and with a nice crust.

I know some of you baking types think this is no big deal but I still am shocked at how well it turned out. I am proud of myself.

And I didn't stop there.

I made cookies too!

This was a recipe I found online and they came out perfect!

They have chocolate chips, pecans (as you can see on the left in this picture),

and...

That's right! Bacon! I had to try these and I'll be honest. I think I would rather have my bacon on the side. Although my son couldn't get enough. They are good, it's just weird.

I hoped that baking would make me feel better and it did. My spirits were lifted. So now what should I try making?

My wife says I missed my calling. George the Baker. It doesn't sound bad right?

*Snicker* I do not think that means what you think it means...

Looks yummy! Are we D folk the only ones who worship the Bacon so much?!

My daughter (6) was just diagnosed in June. She's been wanting banana bread but I lost my recipe. Does your recipe have carb counts? I haven't been brave enough to try a baking recipe and then try to figure out the carbs yet. I've been looking around for one to bake with her.

Thanks for your blog. I've never commented on one before.

Love this, George! Being in the kitchen always gets my spirits up. There's something so beautiful about creating lovely, warm baked goods out of a pile of flours and butter and sugar. I love the feeling of being active -- doing and creating something that will be enjoyed and shared by those around me.

Looks yummy... although I admit I'm having some difficulty wrapping my head around bacon cookies. I would totally try them though!

I like to bake, and generally, I think I'm pretty good at it, but yeast breads have always vexed me. It's been a long time since I tried to make any though. Some day, I'd like to master that, but the problem is that then I want to eat it all ;P

So cool!!!! Hmmmm, bacon in cookies? Who knew?? Try cut-out cookies next!!!! Yes, they are a bit tedious and take a while, but they are so fun. And they look so darn cute!

Wow man! You're getting pretty domesticated over there! Bacon cookies? Wowsers...

I totally chuckled at Kathy's Princess Bride line. :-)
