Wanna Join Mii?
Last night was the first night of the Lose for Lent campaign. After church and dinner I came home, changed into my newly purchased work out shorts and broke out the Wii Fit to get my 30 minutes on.
When I hopped onto the Balance Board and went through the Body Test I was not shocked to see my little Mii plump up into a butterball and hear the cute little voice say, “That’s obese!” Duh.
My focus is really weight loss so aerobic exercises are my focus right now. I started off with a job around the island and I almost didn’t make it. Running in place was kicking my butt! That is sad.
After the run, I did the Advanced Hula Hoop. The burn in my back, sides, hips, legs, and the sweat dripping from my head must mean I was doing something. It was awesome.
Rhythm boxing, Step Aerobics, Kung Fu, and the Rhythm March all kept the blood pumping and the sweat pouring. I also did Lunges and some Yoga poses.
So with just 30 minutes under my belt I am already sore but ready for more.
If you are using Wii Fit to exercise let me know which exercises you like to do. I am going to have to add in some strength training pretty soon even just for variety but I am such a weakling that I fear I will just fail.
Also, be sure and add me to your address book and send me your number so we can send messages to one another. It would be awesome to fire up the Wii, see an encouraging message, and then begin our workout.

I completed my 30 mins of Slim-Down Cardio Burn on exercisetv.tv after attending Ash Wednesday service and committing to this by putting it in writing and dropping it at the foot of the cross. My gift for lent-giving up on laziness and building a healthy temple. I also gave up tv, so you all won't be hearing much about American Idol or Modern Family for the next 6 weeks.
Way to kick it off strong! I'll get my wii info to you this weekend.
Wow! That is awesome! I was praying for strength as I was kneeling waiting for my ashes and I feel it. We are going to do this and come Easter we will celebrate our accomplishment. Way to go!!!
Hey George -
way to jump on the Wii Fit train. I have been thinking about using my Wii Fit but just haven't got around to it. I normally workout every other day at the gym but have been thinking doing a cardio workout on alternate days. Once again, you have inspired me. I will add you and we can motivate each other.
That Island Lap is HARD - it's 12 minutes of running, you know. I can fight my way through it on a good day . . . but on a not-so-good day I'll start the workout with the Short run and end with the Long run. And I agree, I hate that little voice telling me I'm overweight while my Mii porks out. :(
I've added you to my Wii address book (never did that before, hope I did it right) and I'm sending my number over now. :)
Oh, and I forgot the say the Skateboard and the Bike in Wii Fit are a lot of fun. The Skateboard isn't as tough aerobic-wise, but it's a blast. And the Bike is a good workout.
George - I do basically the same exercises that you do on there. I don't do any strength training at all, at least not on the Wii. What I do is take 5 lb weight in each hand and hold them while I do the exercises. It's a little tricky for some of them, but I will hold the weights when I am throwing the punches during the Kung Fu. The weight wrist bands are better to use because you can still use the controller.
This may be a good way to add strength training and work harder on the Wii.
I want a Wii! Can you talk my Hubby into buying me one? I will owe you BIG time.
That stuff sounds really cool. I'll have to see about getting it.
