The Search Begins

Yesterday I finally received my brand spanking new insurance card. I know this may not be exciting to most but I am very stoked about finally getting it in my hands.

With it comes a whole new game. A game I am nervous to jump into but one that I hope will provide for less headaches and better care.

My choice, in case you missed it, was to go with the most expensive PPO plan available. It is going to take a chuck out of my paycheck to cover the premium but I am willing to check it out for a year and see how it goes.

So now the quest is on for a new endo. I am willing to drive as far as I need to for an endo who is worth it. One who is not only interested in new technologies but is up to speed with them and who understands that type 1’s can actually be fat like me.

I want a doctor who when prescribing a drug does not tell me to “just watch the DVD that comes with it and read the book” to understand how it works and how much to take.

Do endocrinologists like this exist? Am I dreaming of something that is not available? From reading other blogs I think there are but I need to find one for me.

If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them. Also, if you can think of a good resource on how to find a great endo in my area I would appreciate any help there too.

Simmering

Yesterdays post was on my mind a lot last night. I kept replaying all the comments, texts, and emails I received and for the record you should know that those encouraging words do help.

When I write stuff down I start to feel a healing occur. It’s almost as if by reading it I can make sense of it and start new. I am forcing myself to not take that route.

This time, I am going to give it some time.

Typically I try to “snap out of it” when I get down. I think by just starting over all that old grumpy angry George will go away but realistically that makes no sense. I have to work on the root of the problem and tackle that first.

So I am going to let yesterdays post simmer in my head for a while and look to find what truly motivates me. Who knows I may need some third party help or a new hobby. I am not sure but something has to change. I just want to take my time figuring that out so it sticks.

I will do my best to provide some not so dull blog posts as yesterday but I think you all know that I share all that I am, good and bad, on this blog and that is something I never want to change.

This blog is a major source of energy for me and my continued quest to “get it right.” And if I am not honest here then I cannot be honest to myself. At least that is how I feel.

Thanks for the love and support. I hope I can send it right back. I just hope I’ll be a little thinner when I do!

Who Moved My Motivation?

As of late I have been in an unmotivated state. I feel tired, bored, boring, and aimless.

I have these great ideas that start off strong in my head but then fizzle soon after. I have no motivation to do anything.

I have been packing on pounds like crazy again and I have no desire at all to do a damn thing about it. My wife asked me if I would want to go back to Weight Watchers again to which I replied with a simple, “no.”

My attempt to clean out the garage never happened. How can I think that by typing something out it means I am going to actually make it happen? Who does that?

My friend came over last night and told me that I should join the gym she goes to and I said, “I need to join but I will never go. I know it so what’s the point?”

Thinking ahead to this year and I get so bummed. I am planning to go on a couple of trips to meet DOC friends and I am already embarrassed about how I look but yet, I don’t want to do a thing about it.

What scares me the most is that I am not really all that upset. It is more like a matter of fact. I will never be that person who is fit and trim, and I will always be a lazy slug. That is the sad part is a part of me has given up.

Ugh, this is depressing I should delete it but I have no drive to write anything else right now. Maybe one of these Californian Tornados we are having will pick my ass up, drop me off in Oz and I can ask the wizard for Liposuction.

You Tube Tuesday #155

Over the weekend I received a gift in the mail that was completely unexpected and oh so awesome!

Yes, it's the one and only Chewbacca! He was sent from my very good friend Nicole! If you are wondering, “Why Chewy?” then you should check out this vlog post which should clear things up.

As a giant Thank You to Nicole, I dedicate this week’s You Tube Tuesday clip to her. Thank you so much for my little Chewbacca. He is chilling on my desk next to the naked Barbie holding my fake Bacon. LOL

Enjoy!

Monday. Meme. Meh.

I have spent the weekend fighting highs and in turn hating diabetes. With bags under my eyes and a slight headache I give you the best post I can come up with for today. A meme. This was stolen from Kerri’s archive of Meme’s so thanks for the help. Enjoy and if you are looking for a post this week, feel free to grab this one!

1.  Were you named after anyone?  Yes. My dad named me after his dad. His dad was George Francis Simmons. My dad was George Emilio Simmons. I am George Scott Simmons, and my son is named after my dad and my father in law. He is George Daniel Simmons.

2. When was the last time you cried? I am not going to count the number of times I tear up at stuff so a real cry probably would have been when my friend had an issue with her eye and it broke my heart.
